SMU Claims Three Individual Titles on Day Two of The American ChampionshipsPublished by
TAMPA, Fla. (SMU) - Sophomore multi-event athlete Lucija Cvitanovic claimed two titles while freshman distance runner Agnes Sjöström won her first as the SMU outdoor track & field team leads the American Athletic Conference Championship with 108 points following day two of competition in Tampa, Fla. Cvitanovic won both the heptathlon (personal-best 5,534 points) and the javelin (50.63 meters) while Sjöström captured her title in the 5,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 16:09.28. Along with the two individual champs and three titles, SMU had two other student-athletes earn all-conference honors for finishing in the top-3 of their respective events. The Ponies sit in first place following day two of The American Championships with a team score of 108 points. SMU leads second place Louisville by 58.8 points.
